Glenwood Family Practice Clinic in Monroe is working around the clock to test and treat patients in the midst of the pandemic.

“Those main concerns with all these measures is trying to make sure that we’re not spreading it so fast so that we’re overwhelming our ICU’S and ventilators,” said Dr. Erin Breard with Glenwood Family Practice.

Breard said they are doing on-site testing daily and telemedicine for their regular patients.

“All the guidelines are recommending if you think you’re sick call your doctor, that’s the first thing is having patients call us and do telehealth visits if possible,” she said.

When asked about rapid response testing, Breard said it would be convenient but there can be issues with reliability.

“The most important thing for that test is that it’s reliable – so a low rate of false positives and false negatives,” she said.

Glenwood is also planning to do convalescent plasma donations with Lifeshare Blood Center to help patients fighting coronavirus.
